Details: The New-York Historical Society is proud to be New York State’s venue for the exhibition First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare, which will bring the 1623 original edition of the playwright’s first published collection to the U.S. In recognition of this extraordinary month-long presentation, join us for a conversation featuring U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, award-winning Shakespearean scholar Michael Witmore, and special guest actors from The Public Theater in New York City as they discuss the influence of Shakespeare and the women in his works on their own lives.

Kirsten Gillibrand has served as a U.S. Senator representing New York State since 2009. Michael Witmore (moderator) is Director of the Folger Shakespeare Library. Special guest actors from The Public Theater in New York City to be announced.
