Details: Please join us for a conversation Mr. Benjamin G. Freeman IV, author of Careysburg: Freed Negro American Settlers’ Quest for Freedom and the Impact on the Social and Cultural Relationship with Indigenous Africans in the St. Paul River Settlement of Liberia, West Africa.

Mr. Freeman, a native of Liberia and a Hemings family descendant, will discuss the founding of Careysburg by free American blacks as well as the influences of indigenous regional groups—principally the Kpelle and Bassa tribes—on the West African settlement.
