Details: Benjamin Franklin – the polymath who invented his own clock in the 1750s – joined with the other Framers to organize American politics through numerous notions of time.  Dan Kryder will explore Franklin’s role in the framing of the Constitution with a particular focus on how “the divine science of politics” used time as a balancing mechanism in the complex Newtonian clockwork of institutional competition and collaboration embedded in the Constitution.
